"Let's Talk"
It's February the shortest month of the year, yet the most powerful. With all the Great ones bundled into one month what power can be more powerful. Black History Month brings me too remember some of our Pioneers in the field of medicine such as; The Late Dr Richard Charles Drew the Father of blood banking. He was a surgeon and researcher in the field of Blood Transfusions because of his Education and brilliant Research it has aloud Humans to save each other's LIVES.
As well as our Black African American Sister's both Dr Rebecca Lee Crumpler, the First Black African American Female Physician and author (A Book of Medical Discourses). After the American Civil War she moved to Richmond, Virginia for real Missionary Work and continued her focus on diseases for Women and Children. She was the only female Author in the 19th Century. Her publication was dedicated to Nurses and Mothers her field was "Medicine".
Dr. Rebecca J Cole, the Second Black African American Female Physician. Dr. Cole Was a activist for the poor most of her career? She made routine house calls to slum neighborhoods in both, Philadelphia and Washington, DC while there she focused on teaching women the importance of hygiene for themselves and their families. Dr. Cole worked at Elizabeth Blackwell's New York infirmary for Women and Children. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she attended the Institute for Colored Youth. Dr. Cole Who demonstrated unconditional care and experience along with great work ethics is how the Home Health Aide programs was developed today. She opened a Woman's Directory Center to provide Medical and Legal Services to Destitute Women and Children. January of 1899 she was appointed Superintendent of Association for Relief of the Destitute Women and Children in Washington, DC. Dr. Cole was awarded the innovators "Walk of Fame" by The University Center of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her field "Internal Medicine".
