My name is Michelle Payne, a Native Washingtonian, Inventor, Author, Entrepreneur, and Mother. I was recently diagnosed with (Myelofibrosis) a Rare Blood Cancer (Pre-Leukemia, Acute Leukemia if not detected) which medically is most common in Adults ages 50 and older. Also, research shows these same cancers are lurking in Children as well. There are hundreds if not thousands of Adults and possibly children are walking around with one of these Rare Blood Cancers such as; Myelofibrosis (MF), Myelodysplastic (MD), Myeloproliferative (MP), Polycythemia Vera (PV) and Essential Thrombocythemia (ET). They are blood cancers that are very hard to detect. After getting some routine blood work done my Primary Doctor was concerned about my blood work couldn’t explain why I had anemia so he referred me to a hematologist who he then suggested the Bone Marrow Biopsy. In October of 2017 I was given a Bone Marrow Biopsy which was performed in the doctor’s office which, I requested to be done in the hospital. As result of the procedure I passed out on the table and was taken to hospital by ambulance when I awaken I was in the hospital and was unable to walk for approximately 6 months and No medical explanation was given. However, the results came back I was then told that I have Myelofibrosis. These Rare Blood Cancers are killing our Spouses, Siblings, Children and Friends and we must help the Doctors, Nurses and Journalist help Us. Awareness is key! For all that is not aware the Rare Blood Cancers Foundation will be an informative Organization that will keep you informed and updated on all the Pros and Cons of these MPNs that are plaguing our bodies. MPNs are rare, the communication and information about such disease just aren’t being talked about. People “we must have self-preservation’’ and the only way we can have it “we must have the information”.
